Competitional Coaches

Flaviu Toma Head Coach and Technical Director
    Flaviu Toma (or, as everyone calls him, Toma,) has been with Flicka since 1984. He was born in Romania and has been in Canada since 1984. Toma is highly qualified and has been actively involved in gymnastics since 1966 either as a gymnast or as a coach. He attended the University of Physical Education in Bucharest and also received a diploma from a training institution which specializes in the coaching of gymnastics. He has completed Levels 1,2,3,4 N.C.C.P. certification.
    Toma was a member of the Romanian National Men's Gymnastics Team and the Junior Men's Champion in Gymnastics in Romania. He spent a year in Holland as a coach and worked in a circus. He has coached many top gymnasts in his career and believes Flicka has a great future.

Vasile Cosariu
    Vasi has been with Flicka since 1994. He was born in Romania and has an illustrious resumé. He graduated from the Physical Education Institute Bucharest as a coach and teacher, graduated in Science and Methodology of the Sport Practice from the Romanian Research Scientific Centre and he is also a qualified chemical engineer from the Polytechnic Institute started gymnastics in 1958 and some of his achievements include:

Julia Bodor
    Julia is a qualified Level 2 instructor and has been with Flicka since 1999. She has a wealth of experience as she has been coaching for 25 years and specialized in developmental gymnastics.
    She has coached with the Arizona Kips in Arizona, the Altadore Gym in Calgary, the West Coast Dynamos in West Vancouver and Flicka is pleased to have her on board now.

Viorica Cosaria
    Doina (as she likes to be called) is a qualified gymnastics coach who received her training in Bucharest. She graduated from the Post Secondary Trade School specializing in Gymnastics in 1979. She has completed the Level 3 N.C.C.P. She joined Flicka in 1999 and is currently a competitive coach as well as a Kindergym coach.
    She's very good with young children in pre-competitive program. Coaching over 30 at present time.
    Represents Flicka at competitions with KIP, Level I and II gymnasts whom are one of the best in B.C.

Valentin Stan
    He is with Flicka from 2002. Coaching boys and girls. Coaching girls at Provincial, National and High Performance Level. Boys Level 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 with the best performance in BC.
    He is born in Romania in Province of Arges in August 15, 1968. A national level competitor in wrestling, started in elementary school from 1974 - 1982 and continues in high school from 1982-1986. In University change his speciality to gymnastics. 1989 - 1994
    Teaching sport from 1996 - 1998 in School of Sport No. 5 in Bucharest. 1994 - 1996 teaching in Scool of Sport in Pitesti, Romania.
    He is now a level 3 certified in Canada.

Dorina Stan
    Dorina she's with Flicka from 2002 - present. Coache of provincial, national and high performance athlets.
    Borne in province of Hunedoara Romania in january 26 1970. She started the gymnastics at Gymnastics School in Deva where she was attending elementary and high school from 1976 - 1988.
    From 1991 - 1995 Student at University of Physical Education and Sport in Bucharest.
    She start to coach gymnastics at School No. 2 in Bucharest Romania from 1993 till 1996. She had girls attending the unior National Team in Onesti Romania.
    From 1996 - 2002 she's working in Israel with National Team members.
    She's a Level 3 certified coach in Canada.

Nicola Savkovic
    Completed Level I gymnastics, Level I Trampoline and Level II Technical.
    I have Physical Education teaching diploma and i'm coaching for 27 years. I work for Flicka from 2001 - present with the boys program teaching pre-comp 4 - 6 yrs old and Level I.
    It's fun working with young children and wery rewarding for me as a coach.

Dannielle Frigo
    Danielle it's coaching at Flicka from 2001 - present and is loving it. She move to the Competitive Program in 2003. She has completed her NCCP Level 2 Gymnastics and Level 1 Trampoline. She especially enjoys passing on the sports onto others, and to watch kids accomplish skills that she has taught them. She has been with Flicka since 8 year old, and once she stopped doing gymnasics, she knew that coaching would be the best way to stay with the sport. She now enjoys working with the friendly staff at Flicka, some of whom have taught her before. Her favorite events are Bars & Floor. Currently at Capilano College studying Human Kinetics.
