Flicka has a well established Competitive Gymnastics Program.
The Flicka Gym Club's goal is to enable every gymnast to train and compete at a realistic and achievable
level of personal success in order to promote self confidence and a lasting enjoyment of the sport of
gymnastics that will benefit the gymnasts throughout their lives. Flicka inspires its gymnasts to be the
best they can be and to meet their personal goals and commitments.
The Flicka Gym Club is mandate is to provide the facility, the equipment and the
coaching necessary to achieve excellence at all competitive levels at a reasonable cost to the members.
The athletes are assessed and selected for this program based on ability, the
desire, and the potential to pursue gymnastics as a competitive sport.
Flicka has produced a number of internationally ranked gymnasts who have attended
the Pan-American Games, the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics and other world events. Many Flicka athletes
have been awarded full University scholarships for their gymnastics abilities. Flicka has developed a
tradition of excellence in instruction at all levels and continues to produce excellent gymnasts throughout
the club.
FLICKA HALL OF FAME
Flicka has developed a tradition of producing elite level gymnasts who
compete on a national and international level. Flicka gymnasts have competed throughout the world.
By offering high quality, dedicated coaching and a superior gymnastics facility with top quality
equipment, allows all members to train to their full potential. Gymnasts from all over the Lower
Mainland are attracted to the North Shore due to Flicka s reputation as a premier gymnastics club in
British Columbia and Canada.
Thousands of gymnasts have passed through the doors of Flicka over the years - many of whom still live
in the Vancouver area and maintain strong ties to the club and become involved in the coaching,
management and development of the club.
Following are some of the tremendous results Flicka gymnasts have had since its start in 1962:

1962 Original two gymnasts, Holly Bird and Tami Martin, represented BC at theNational Championship.

1966 Sandra Hartley, represented Canada at the World Games in Dormund

1968 Sandra Hartley won the National Senior Title and Janet Parson won theNational Junior Title. Sandra Hartley competed for Canada at the Mexico Olympics.

1976 Karen Kelsall competed for Canada at the Montreal Olympics.

1984 Donna Haughland places first in Western Canadian Championships AnitaBotnen and Bonnie Wittmeier compete for Canada at the Los Angeles Olympics.

1985 Sandra Botnen and Tracy Wilson named as team members to WorldGymnastics Championships in Montreal.

1999 Lise Leveille competes for Canada at the Pan American Games and WorldGymnastics Championships in China. Breanne King National Junior Champion at Japan World Juniors Nathalie Balfour National Open Champion
