Girls Competitive Training Program

Levels of Coaching at Flicka
KIP & Beginner Level: An introduction to competitive gymnastics with basic routines and low level of difficulty.
Provincial Level I: A Provincial stream gymnast will compete at this beginners level which provides semi-compulsory routines at a relatively basic level of difficulty.
Provincial Level II: This level is more difficult and requires and increased training time and commitment. Routines are optional in content with requirements for difficulties set out by the province.
Provincial Level III: The difficulty and commitment at this level will once again increase.
Provincial Level IV: Highest level in the provincial program. Increased difficulty, commitment and training times combine to make this level extremely difficult. Gymnasts get to compete in Provincial meets as well as trying out for Western Canadian Championships.
National and High Performance: The highest level of gymnastics in Canada is the National level and High Performance program. A relatively few number of Canadian clubs actually have this level of athlete or the coaching and resources to facilitate this. Here at Flicka we are proud to have gymnasts who are training in our program and have been developed through our system. This level requires an intense training regimen with a high level of dedication and commitment from the gymnasts and their families. Gymnasts who have the abilities to aspire to these most difficult levels will generally start competing in the program by age 10. The difficulty is very high at this level which means that only a select few will have the necessary abilities to participate. Gymnasts at this level must be VERY strong and flexible. Gymnasts will compete at events across Canada including the Canadian Championships each May. Very few of these gymnasts will be selected for the High Performance program and will be taken to Elite Canada to try for positions on Canada’s National Team. The expertise needed to prepare gymnasts at this level is specialized and is what drives the development and direction of all levels of the sport.
